VANITY FAIR 2013 BEST DRESSED LIST

Vanity Fair released their 2013 Best Dressed List today. It's a lot less controversial than last year and seems to be fairly well rounded with numerous celebrities, fashion insiders, business tycoons, artistic types and princesses (yes, princesses - plural). I love that Kerry Washington made the list (she's had a stellar year) but I think some of the other celebs on the list were a bit predictable (ahem, Charlize Theron, Justin Timberlake and Beyonce). Also, the Duchess of Cambridge made the list for the second year in a row which is a huge bone of contention for me. While I love the Princess, I do NOT think she deserves to be on the Best Dressed list. She always looks good but her style is boring and predictable. Personally, I would have liked to see Prince Harry on the list again (he seriously wears the sh*t out of his pants). And Diane Kruger and Miroslava Duma were noticeably absent.

MY WEEK & WEEKEND

TOP - L: Celebrating AJs birthday a little early with macarons from Nadége on Thursday. TOP - R: Taking advantage of the eLuxe 70% off sale. BOTTOM: Outfit snapshot from the Canadian Open. I wore my Chanel WOC bag, black cropped pants from the Gap (they're on sale), Tory Burch flats {similar} and an Anthropologie top.
We spent the day at Bronte Creek on Saturday. There was a torrential downpour in the afternoon so we had to make a mad dash to our car but the morning was really fun.

MICHELLE WILLIAMS FOR LOUIS VUITTON

Louis Vuitton launched a new ad campaign featuring Michelle Williams in support of their two newest handbags. I really love the styling in these pics. Michelle looks spectacular. Her hair is a great platinum blonde, her brows are bold and the deep red lipstick she's wearing is PERFECTION!

CURRENTLY OBSESSED: HERMES FOR THE HOME

I've posted about how much I love the Hermes Avalon blanket in the past. DH and I have been talking about renovating lately and when I think about my 'dream home' an Avalon blanket is always front and centre. I really, really want one of these beauties in my life!

Here are some inspirational pics of the Avalon blanket in action:

I love everything about this combo of white sofas, spotted chairs, a union jack pillow and Avalon blanket! The black/cream combo is my favourite.

The gray combo is also really beautiful!

I'm pretty sure this is an image from Guiliana and Bill Rancic's house. LOVE the Hermes blanket but I also love everything else. The built-ins are amazing.

This photo is from Hilary Duff's Instagram account. LOL. She was getting her hair done but look at that fabulous Hermes blanket in the background!

I wouldn't get this colour combo but this room is fantastic!

And my other obsession is a Hermes tray. Do you remember the Hermes tray Olivia Palermo had in her apartment on The City? LOL. Loved it! I found a really cute shop on Etsy that makes Hermes-inspired trays that are so much fun!

Tray as a table

I'd want to use one like this - on a coffee table with other books/candles styled on top

This is a smaller version and a Chanel-inspired tray

BELLE SPOTLIGHT: PERFECT SUMMER RED

When it comes to my nails, I can always be counted on to be sporting red polish. My go-to colours are OPI's Malaga Wine and Got The Blues For Red. They're both in the deep blue/red family and are fairly interchangable (with Malaga being my favourite). But I've just discovered a new red to add to my list of favourites. OPI's Thrill of Brazil is the perfect bright summer red. It doesn't have too much orange, which is my usual complaint with a number of reds, but is bright enough to be considered a 'summer' red. It's a great polish to add to the colour rotation.

CURRENTLY OBSESSED: CJ FREE

I've been wearing a CJ Free bracelet for the last year and love it. I don't know why I haven't written about it before. The bright silk beaded bracelets look great but also make you feel great because a percentage of the proceeds benefit charity. Jamie-Lynn Sigler is the designer behind the line and they come in 14 karat gold or sterling silver and in a range of colours that each benefit a different charitable organization (MS research, Cancer, Heart Disease, Diabetes, etc). They're delicate so they can be worn alone or layered with other bracelets.
You can buy the bracelets here

Here's a photo of Hilary Duff wearing her CJ Free bracelets.

STYLE SPOTLIGHT: BLAKE LIVELY

Blake Lively attended the premiere of Ryan Reynolds' movie Turbo the other night. She wore Burberry and I love EVERYTHING about this look. The bejeweled skirt combined with the casual tank top and cardigan strikes the perfect balance.

MY WEEK & WEEKEND

It was another busy weekend filled with family fun. Kingsley played soccer on Saturday morning and then spent the rest of the day playing with Mia & Alexa. Poor Romeo, spent a lot of time in Mia & Alexa's cottage when we had a BBQ at their house after swimming - LOL.

Outfit snapshot #1: Zara Blazer, Zara Star Tee, Theory Cropped Pants {similar}, Steve Madden Loafers and Chanel purse.

STYLE SPOTLIGHT: MIROSLAVA DUMA

Miroslava Duma went to the Chanel Fall 2013 Couture show in Paris the other day and looked incredible in a Chanel jacket, striped tee, jean shorts and platforms. Everyone knows I'm in a serious 'stripe' phase so it's a given that I'd love the t-shirt but the Chanel jacket she's wearing makes my heart skip a beat! Honestly, this jacket is perfection. A Chanel tweed jacket is on the top of my ultimate wish list and this is one of the best I've ever seen.

BELLE SPOTLIGHT: GUEST REVIEW

This is a guest post from Jordana today. Ever since I found out that Bumble and Bumble was coming out with  a shampoo and conditioner version of it's famous Surf Spray, I've been dying to try it out. When Jordana picked up some samples, I asked her to do a guest post on the product since I haven't tried it yet. Here's Jordana's experience with Bumble and Bumble Surf Shampoo and Conditioner:

Every girl wants beachy hair but it’s difficult to achieve unless you live on the coast. When Bumble and bumble introduced Surf shampoo and conditioner, I could hardly wait. I hit up a Sephora and asked for a sample. Sadly, I was disappointed with the results. Rather than giving me the oomph I was looking for, Surf shampoo and conditioner left me limp.

Achieving a nonchalant beach look isn’t easy for my thin, fine hair. However, when I combine Living Proof Prime and then Bumble and bumble Surf Spray the results are relatively consistent. And, if you must know my hair is less wavy but has great texture on the second day.

Tip: Wash and conditioner your hair. Brush gently. Apply Prime. Add Surf Spray liberally. Scrunch and style as your wish. Do NOT touch your hair again until air drying is complete.

Last Saturday, I used Living Proof’s full shampoo and conditioner, followed by Living Proof Prime and Bumble and bumble Surf Spray. (Lauren: Jordana is wearing the Stila fuchsia lipstick that was in my July Beauty Wish List - LOVE).

BELLE SPOTLIGHT: JULY BEAUTY WISH LIST

1. TOM FORD NOIR ABSOLUTE FOR EYES: I have an intense love for all things Tom Ford and this black gel formula eye liner is another product on my wish list. It can be used with a thin brush along the lash line as a dramatic liner or swept over the entire lid for an intense smokey eye.

2. CLE DE PEAU BEAUTE CONCEALER: This is considered a holy grail concealer by many in the  beauty and fashion industry. I've been using it for a few months and it really is amazing. While I don't use it for under my eyes, it perfectly conceals any imperfections on my skin and has tremendous lasting power.

3. CHANTECAILLE NANO GOLD ENERGIZING EYE SERUM: This eye serum contains a cocktail of collagen builders, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory ingredients. Delivered in a unique roller ball applicator that aids in depuffing, the serum contains 24 karat gold and claims to smooth out existing lines and prevent new ones from forming. It also contains Raspberry and Tomato stem cells and a peptdic complex (i.e. powerful anti-oxidants that also extend cellular longevity, increase blood flow and lymphatic drainage, resulting in reduced dark circles and puffiness).

4. LIVING PROOF PRIME STYLE EXTENDER: Jordana is a huge fan of the Living Proof line and especially raves about the Prime Style Extender. Touted as a weightless hairstyling primer that protects and extends the life of your style, it's free of parabens, sulfates and synthetic dyes. The fact that most products in the line are free of silicon is another reason why it's on the top of my 'must-try' list.

5. GIORGIO ARMANI 'EYES TO KILL' PALETTE IN BLUSH: I've heard so many great things about Giorgio Armani makeup. This palette is so pretty and has 4 beautiful, very wearable colours.

6. CHANEL SUBLIMAGE LA CREME - TEXTURE SUPRÉME: Julia Restoin Roitfeld talked about using this moisturizer in a video she did on Into The Gloss. Chanel claims it's a skincare product that goes beyond anti-aging. Utilizing the fruit and flower of Vanilla from Madagascar, the cream claims to make the complexion more radiant and even, firm the facial contours, smooth and tone the face and make skin glow. Those are pretty extreme claims but I'm definitely intrigued.

7. STILA COLOR BALM LIPSTICK IN FUCHSIA: This is another product recommended by Jordana. She bought this fuchsia colour on our trip to NY and has been wearing it ever since. It's such a fun colour for Summer and offers up the moisturizing benefits of a balm while having lipstick worthy colour.

STYLE SPOTLIGHT: SARAH JESSICA PARKER

Sarah Jessica Parker went to the Serpentine last week and looked fabulous in a sparkly, fringed Naeem Khan dress. This is such a Carrie Bradshaw dress, isn't it? I love it!

MY WEEK & WEEKEND

Samantha and I went to Yoga Under The Stars last Monday and it was so much fun. Very hippie but fun (lol). It was unbelievably humid all day but had cooled down by the evening and there was a beautiful breeze beside the pool.

TOP - R: Outfit snapshot - Burberry trench coat, Anthropologie striped tee, Theory pants and Ferragamo flats. L: Freshly manicured nails with my go-to classic colour Malaga Wine.

BOTTOM - L: Kingsley has been dressing up in his Police uniform all weekend. He had fun placing Romeo and I under arrest. Haha! R: It was an overcast and breezy Canada Day today but we went down to the beach despite the cool weather. Romeo was trying to coax Kingsley to put his feet in the water.

Here are some more shots of our Canada Day at the beach. Kingsley had so much fun playing in the sand!

After dinner we went out to the park and Romeo took Kingsley for an ice cream when I went to a yoga class.

What better way to end a busy long weekend than to take a yoga class! I did a hot vinyasa flow class and it was fantastic!
