STYLE SPOTLIGHT: KATE MARA

Kate Mara went to the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington on Saturday night wearing a floor-length white Prada dress. I really, really love this dress - it's so simple and modern. The sleeves and bow detail at the neck are really fantastic.

Kate's eye makeup was dramatic but worked really well with the simplicity of the white Prada dress.

The detailing on her green clutch is fabulous! LOVE it!

MY WEEK & WEEKEND

This week was really busy but also really fun. I spoke at a conference, wore my new Zara blazer out and about and had a weekend filled with parties and family time. It's also finally starting to feel like Spring which is wonderful! Here are a few snapshots:

Top: L - I spoke at a Social Media Summit on Thursday (nerve-wracking!). I wore a Smythe blazer, Theory tank {similar}, Theory pants {similar} and red Cole Haan shoes.  R - A selfie since my hair was straight (which never happens) and wearing my new Zara blazer with a StyleMint tank {similar}.

Bottom: L - Outfit snapshot #1: Zara blazer (recent but not available online), StyleMint tank {similar}, 7 For All Mankind jeans, Cole Haan shoes. R - Outfit snapshot #2: 3.1 Phillip Lim leather jacket, StyleMint Newbury T, Citizens of Humanity jeans, Chanel flats and Chanel purse.

Top: L - Hanging out with the Cherry Pie Twins crew on Saturday. R - Kingsley and I driving around and wearing our shades! I'm wearing Chloe sunglasses and a Louis Vuitton scarf. Kingsley's wearing a letterman jacket from H&M and GAP sunglasses {similar}.

STYLE SPOTLIGHT: GWYNETH PALTROW

Gwyneth Paltrow wore an Antonio Berardi dress with sheer black side panels to the premiere of Iron Man 3 last night. What do you think? It's definitely risqué but I really love it! It's so cool and it looks great on her. If my body looked like Gwyneth's I'd walk around wearing a sheer panel dress too ;-)

CURRENTLY OBSESSED: IPHONE COUTURE

Okay, how adorable are these Chanel nail polish iPhone cases?!?! I am obsessed! They're so fun and girly. They also come in a giant selection of colours so there's one for all of your favourite manicure colours. I'm lusting for Dragon and Rouge Noir since those are my 'signature' colours but there's so many cute ones.

MY WEEKEND IN NYC

Jordana and I had an inpromptu girls weekend in New York and it was so much fun. Jordana was actually there for work so I tagged along. We had cocktails, lots of good meals, did some shopping and went to see the premiere of The Director at the Tribeca Film Festival. Jordana works for Cadillac and they are sponsoring a film series with Gucci so she was there on 'official' business. Here are some pics from our weekend away:

Top Row - L: We started our trip with brunch at Bakehouse and I had the best omelette I've ever had there. M: Tom Ford Lip Shine in Insidious - a belated birthday gift from Jor (she knows me so well).  R: A pic snapped when we were out shopping in Soho.

Middle Row - L: Macarons from Bisous Ciao (my only regret was not making it up to Barney's and La Duree on Madison - next time!) M: I can't go without my David's tea fix! R: Looking at purses with Jordana at Prada in Soho. I'm obsessed with navy purses right now!

Bottom Row - Photos from our dinner at Beauty & Essex.

Photos from our dinner at Beauty & Essex - which was delicious! It was a really 'happening' place and I have to be honest, the scene at the bar almost frightened me away but the food was delicious and we had a really fun time. The outside of the restaurant is a pawn shop and it transforms into a completely glam spot once you step inside. We had tuna tacos, kale and apple salad, lobster tacos, avacado and tomato toasts, salt & vinager fries and caramel pudding that was AMAZING!

Top Row - L: The shoe department at Saks (aka shoe 'heaven'). M: a Zara blazer that Jordana and I both bought (we can really never live in the same city again - LOL). R: Blue Chanel flats that I bought at Bergdorf Goodman (they are so comfortable and AMAZING).

Middle Row - L: I tried on these Valentino flats at Bergdorf's. I really, really loved them but decided to go with the blue Chanel flats instead...did I make the right decision?!?! M: En route in our Cadillac to the premiere of The Director. R: Before going into the movie.

Bottom Row - L: Walking the red carpet at the premiere. It was hilarious because Jordana was working and filming a video for Cadillac while we were there. M: Christina Voros and James Franco doing a Q&A after the screening of the film. R: We went to Lombardi's for pizza after the movie and it was delicious!

These are some of my favourite snapshots from the weekend!

Check out the trailer for The Director. I now have a serious girl crush on Frida Giannini.

The best part of getting home is getting to hang out with this little guy!

BELLE SPOTLIGHT: SURFIN'

I have some very exciting news... according to Into The Gloss, Bumble and Bumble is expanding on their famous Surf Spray (a product that can single handedly turn my pin-straight hair into beautiful beachy waves) and coming out with a Surf line that includes Shampoo and Conditioner that is fortified with a "unique blend of body-enhancing minerals and softening sea botanicals." Needless to say, I will be running out to pick it up as soon as it's released on May 1st (no word yet on whether it'll be released in Canada on May 1st as well).

STYLE SPOTLIGHT

I saw this photo on Pinterest of fashion editor Aurora Sansone and I love everything about her look. I'm not usually a fan of white pumps but I love how effortless and cool everything looks on her. The sunglasses, the green jacket, the clutch, the jeans and the white pumps all work together so well.

CURRENTLY OBSESSED: DEAR MARGOT

I was approached by the owner and designer of a great jewellery company called Dear Margot recently to check out her line. Based out of Denver, the designs are made out of materials such as semi-precious stones, wood, shell, laser-engraved walnut wood, swarovski crystal, fire-polished glass, vintage materials, antique brass, gold and sterling silver. I really love how modern and colourful all of the pieces are. There are so many great pieces but here are some of my favourite picks from the collection:

BELLE REVIEW: BY TERRY BAUME

Danna was in NY a few weeks ago and I asked her to pick up two BY TERRY lip balms that I've been wanting to try. BY TERRY is available at Barneys and a few places online but it's pretty much impossible to buy here in Canada. I've heard amazing things about the BY TERRY baume so I was really excited to finally get my hands on it!

The packaging for the BY TERRY Or De Rose Baume Précieux and Baume De Rose is very pretty. The bottles are the same size so I'm not sure why the packaging for the Or De Rose is 2x the size of the Baume de Rose but they're both quite pretty.

Side by side you can see that the packaging for both Baume's are almost identical. The Or De Rose has a rose gold lid and some rose gold detailing on the bottle. The Baume De Rose has a silver lid and a frosted bottle. They're both very luxe.

The original Baume De Rose has a lovely rose scent and light pink colour. It's creamy, non-sticky and has SPF 15. It's really moisturizing and leaves lips extremely soft. At $59 it's very expensive but it's definitely up there as one of the best balms I've tried.

This is a side-by-side comparison of the Or De Rose and Baume De Rose. You can see the subtle shimmer in the Or De Rose

The Or De Rose is the newer of the two balms and has a combination of 24-carat pink gold, rose extracts and 26 active ingredients to preserve the youthfulness of the lips. The Or De Rose is even more expensive than the original at $70.

To be honest, I much prefer the original Rose De Baume to the newer gold Or De Baume. I can feel the gold in the Or De Baume and it just doesn't feel as smooth (or moisturizing) on the lips as the original. Saying that, the Or De Baume looks nice layered on top of a lipstick.

Lastly, this balm reminds me a lot of the Dior Créme De Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm (which is one of my favourites). At $30, the Dior balm is half the price of the original BY TERRY balm and in my opinion just as good or better. I love the Dior balm - it has a similar rose scent and is extremely hydrating. It's a great alternative to the BY TERRY and much easier to get a hold of.

STYLE SPOTLIGHT: CLÉMENCE POÉSY

I love how cozy and chic Clémence Poésy looks in this pic. Her look is so effortless. She really is the epitome of French style!

BTW - Sorry I've been MIA lately! Work has been crazy hectic.
