It was Haute Couture Week in Paris last week and Diane Kruger attended the Chanel Couture show  (wearing Chanel of course). I am so in LOVE with everything about this outfit. The pattern and shape are fantastic and her hat is adorable!

The biggest event this past weekend was the baby shower I threw for my amazing sister-in-law Julie. We had it at the McLean House on The Sunnybrook Estates and it was a perfect day. It was an afternoon tea complete with scones and cream. Julie is having a baby boy so everything was baby blue. I worked with Jenny at Bloom Designs for all of the printables. It was a perfect day!

I'm in love with this Mackage jacket with leather sleeves and a draped front. It's probably not the warmest jacket but it's uber chic!

Kirsten Dunst wore Louis Vuitton to the Art of Elysum event the other week and looked AMAZING! I would never be daring enough to wear something like this but I love it on Kirsten. It's so great to see someone taking a fashion risk and have it pay off. Kirsten has never looked better!

Princess Beatrice was in Germany wearing a Jonathan Saunders dress and looking fabulous last week. The dress looks so much better on Beatrice than it does on the runway model. I love the way it's been styled on Beatrice with the belt and black tights. What do you think? Do you prefer the runway or reality look?

After yesterday's post on the Olay Pro-X vs the Clarisonic, I thought I'd post about my skincare routine and my favourite products. I have extremely sensitive skin so all of the products I use are good for reactive, acne-prone skin.

CLEANSE: 1. CLINIDERM GENTLE CLEANSER - my Dermatologist recommended this line and I've been using it for a few years. The Gentle Cleanser is really mild and is perfect for my extremely sensitive, reactive, acne-prone skin. I use it morning and night. 2. CLARISONIC MIA - I've been a huge fan of the Clarisonic since I bought it because it's made such a huge difference on my skin. After using it my skin feels cleaner and tighter (but not in a dry way) and I started receiving so many compliments on my skin once I started using it. I generally only use it at night when I have makeup on my face. There are times when I get lazy and don't use it as much but it's generally not very long before I start to break out and I have to start using it again to get my skin back on track. 3. NEUTROGENA PINK GRAPEFRUIT OIL-FREE ACNE WASH -  I use this with my Clarisonic Mia in the evening when I'm removing my makeup. I generally use the Cliniderm Gentle Cleanser first and then wash my face a second time with this Acne Wash to make sure it's really clean. I know it's a bit much to wash my face 2x times but I hate the idea of my skin not being really clean when I go to bed.

MOISTURIZE: 4. DIOR CRÉME DE ROSE SMOOTHING PLUMPING LIP BALM - I apply this hydrating lip balm throughout the day and every night before bed. 5. CLINIDERM SOOTHING LOTION - I use this lotion morning and night. It's very gentle.

PREVENT: 6. ESTÉE LAUDER ADVANCED NIGHT REPAIR - I've been using this serum for the last few months and I'm a big fan. I had tried it last year and had a breakout shortly after so I stopped using it. But I'm so glad I tried it again because when I tried it for the second time it was great for my skin. It claims to make skin smoother, younger, more radiant and healthy-looking and I've definitely seen a difference since including it in my routine. 7. ESTÉE LAUDER ADVANCED NIGHT REPAIR EYE - I received this when I purchased the Night Repair Serum and it's a great serum-gel for the delicate eye area.

PROTECT: 8. ELTA MD UV CLEAR SPF 46 - This is the BEST sunscreen! It's so gentle and is perfect for my super sensitive skin. Plus it doesn't feel or smell like most sunscreens - you won't even know you're wearing it except for how moisturizing it is on your skin. I really can't recommend this sunscreen enough! BTW - I wear sunscreen all year round. After having melanoma at 25, it's definitely become the most important part of my skincare routine.

I'd love to hear if you have any favourite products that you'd recommend.

Together, Cherry Pie Twins and La Dauphine Style, decided to test out two skin cleansing systems. I have been a fan of the Clarisonic Mia for quite a while and Samantha has recently started using the Olay Pro-X. We got together with both systems to compare them against each other. Both of us washed one side of our face with the Pro-X and the other with the Mia. Here are the stats on the devices:
- sells at Sephora Canada for $139
- replacement heads sell for $29 each
- different sized heads are available (for body and deep cleansing)
- comes in a variety of colours
- comes with a charger
- comes with 1 oz of cleanser
- one speed, sonic oscillating system
- water resistant

Olay Pro-X
- sells at Shoppers Drug Mart for $34
- replacement heads for $14 each
- only comes in white
- battery operated
- comes with 20mL of cleanser
- 2 speeds, rotating
- not water resistant
While both systems come with tester size versions of their respective cleansers, neither of us uses them. Instead, we use our own preferred cleansers in conjunction with the skin cleaning systems (I use Cliniderm Gentle Cleanser and Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Acne Wash and  Samantha uses Purity by Philosophy). For the purposes of our comparison for this post, we used the cleanser that came with the Pro-X.

Which device did we prefer?
Both systems claim to clean your face better than traditional washing, and we agree that's true. The brush head on the Mia is much larger than the one on the Pro-X. The Mia also feels a lot heavier and more powerful since the motor is larger. The bristles on both devices are very soft.

At the end of our testing, we didn't have strong opinions one way or the other about which cleaned our faces better... and it may be hard to truly say without us washing our entire faces with the devices for prolonged periods of time. That said, we agree that the Clarisonic Mia is a more powerful product with a lot of great extra features (like the different sized heads and the ability to bring it into the shower) but that the Olay Pro-X is a good inexpensive alternative.

Once you start using either skin cleansing system, you will never go back to washing your face. It's amazing how clean your face and how tight your pores will feel after using it.

This is another guest post from Jordana on her Golden Globe party experience. I asked her to document getting ready for the party and what she decided to wear. Enjoy! L

As Cadillac continues to elevate it's luxury car, crossover and SUV line-up, it wasn't a surprise that W magazine partnered with us on their annual Golden Globes event. I had the pleasure of attending the party at LA's Chateau Marmont with a few other Cadillac colleagues. So, what did I wear?

Black Herve Leger cocktail dress // Black Epi Leather Louis Vuitton Pochette // My mom's vintage gold drop earrings // Black strappy heels by Maria Sharapova at Cole Haan // Gold lace cuff by Stella & Dot  //  Hair by DryBar in WeHo // Make-up by Blushington in Weho

Pre-party dinner at Son of a Gun. L - Jordana Strosberg, Cadillac Communications; C - Arianna Kughn,  Cadillac Digital Advertising Manager; R - Melody Lee; Director of Cadillac Brand Strategy and Reputation.

This is a guest post from Jordana who went to LA for work last weekend (i.e. she had to attend the W Magazine Golden Globe pre-party on behalf of Cadillac). Yes, she has a pretty sweet gig... I asked her to do a few posts about the Hollywood party experience and how the celebrities looked IRL. Enjoy! L

IRL with Cadillac at W Magazine's celebration of the Golden Globes
Cadillac recently feted the Golden Globes at W Magazine's annual party. As actors, artists and supermodels descended on Los Angeles' Chateau Marmont, I took notes. Here's my "in real life" take on celebrity style:
Sienna IRL - Looked nothing short of adorable. Inside the party suite, she spent most of the evening covering up her delectable mini with a sweater. Her disheveled hair was perfection.

Miranda IRL - Picture perfect. She looks exactly like her photographs. Graceful. Prestine. Glittering in gold.

Frida and Dev IRL - Aren't they the cutest couple? They spent a portion of the party chatting on a sofa near the wood-burning fireplace. His smile lit up the room. Her look was age and event appropriate.

Kerry IRL - Let me start by saying I'm a huge Kerry Washington fan and was beyond excited to see her (and even more excited that she showed up in one of our Escalades). Unfortunately, her blazer and pajama pants did not shine IRL. She did a quick walk through the suite, mostly looking at the floor and with her hand blocking her face. Clearly she did not want to be photographed inside the event. From behind, her chunky-heeled shoes looked dowdy.

Eddie Redmayne IRL - Those freckles are cuter and the smile is bigger!

Amber IRL - From a mile away, a true supermodel can be spotted. Her height was fantastic. She looked like she just threw on her amazing LBD and rolled up to the event. She completely rocked her look! I was thrilled to brush up against her. As far as I'm concerned, she's legendary.

What a night! So pleased that Cadillac was a part of it! And, that I was 'required' to attend! xo

Here is the latest What's In My Bag guest post from another fabulous PR girl. Coralie is a working Mom like me (she has two adorable little boys) and has fantastic taste and style.

  • Purse: Philip Lim Pashli Satchel – I love this purse, it is classic, structured, sophisticated and professional and most importantly huge so I can fit everything in one bag.
  • Wallet: Kate Spade - A recent Christmas gift from my father-in-law (I think my MIL picked it out).
  • MacBook & Charger
  • iPhone & Charger
  • Notebook & pens  - I seem to acquire a lot of pens in my bag...I'm a bit of a pen thief
  • Vogue - Some reading material for the train
  • Eye Mask - In case I want to take a little nap on the train, I usually leave very early in the morning
  • J.R. Watkins Shea Butter Hand Cream (In my quest to use as many natural products as possible)
  • Hugo Naturals hand sanitizer (Same as above...contains no nasty ingredients)
  • Variety of lipsticks/LipBalms - Tom Ford: Pink Dusk, Burberry: Dusty Rose, CoverGirl: Spellbound & Hurraw Lip Balm (all natural, raw, fair trade, premium fair trade ingredients)
  • Bobbi Brown Concealer, Powder, Blush & Eye Shadow (for touch-ups throughout the day)
  • Altoids (Natural no artificial ingeredients like aspartame)
  • Hair Elastics - Like pens I usually seem to have a pile in my purse
Can't live without: my iPhone and lip balm

TOP ROW: KERRY WASHINGTON wore an amazing Miu Miu dress. I love this dress! It's so fantastic and so different from the sameness that everyone else is wearing (I hate her hair though) // AMY ADAMS wore a blush Marchesa that looked fantastic on her // NICOLE KIDMAN wore Alexander McQueen and looked as regal as ever.

BOTTOM ROW: KATE HUDSON also wore Alexander McQueen and looked great // JESSICA ALBA definitely wins for best colour of the night in her beautiful Oscar de la Renta. I think the necklace was a bit too much but the dress is exquisite // NICOLE RICHIE looked heavenly in a blue Naeem Khan. It wouldn't work on everyone but it's so perfect for Nicole.

TOP ROW: JULIANNE HOUGH wore a fantastic Monique Lhuillier white/gold dress. It feels like it's a bit over-the-top on her but I can't deny how amazing she looks in it // LUCY LIU wore Carolina Herrara and it's a controversial choice. I love the pattern and the shape but it's definitely not for everyone. BEN AFFLECK looked amazing and wore the shit out of his suit.

BOTTOM ROW: ALICIA VIKANDER wore a lovely layered white Chanel. I love everything about this dress. It's so beautiful but still age appropriate for her (I have to be honest and say that I have no idea who she is though) // JULIANNA MARGUILES wore Emilio Pucci and I LOVE it. This is my favourite look from her in a very long time // MICHELLE DOCKERY looked unbelievable regal in Alexandre Vauthier. Not many people could pull off this dress but she does it effortlessly.

Photos: Style.com

TOP ROW: KATHERINE MCPHEE wore a hideous Theyskens Theory dress that definitely looses something in translation. It looks so cheap and the shoes are atrocious // TAYLOR SWIFT wore Donna Karan and looked horrible. Why would she wear this? The neckline is straight from 2000... Everything about the shape is bad // ZOOEY DESCHANEL wore Oscar de la Renta and if I were her I'd be really mad that they gave the good dress to Jessica Alba. I'm pretty sure I've seen her in the same dress a dozen other times.

BOTTOM ROW: HALLE BERRY decided to go for the Euro-trash look in Atelier Versace. Seriously, what is this?!?! // MARION COTILLARD wore Dior Haute Couture. You know how much I love Marion but nothing about this look works. The shoes, the dress, the hair is all horrible // JESSICA CHASTAIN wore Calvin Klein and it is the worst fitting dress I've ever seen. Whoever told her she should wear this should be shot.

TOP ROW: LEA MICHELLE just has so much TRY in this Elie Saab dress // JENNIFER LAWRENCE's red Dior dress looked like something Mrs. Claus would wear. The top didn't fit properly and the belt was an odd addition // EVA LONGORIA wore Emilio Pucci and it's WAY too much. The slit/the neckline...it's all over the top.

BOTTOM ROW: CLAIRE DAINES just had a baby so I definitely give her props for how great her body looks. The dress though... it's Atelier Versace and it looks so cheap. It's a Real Housewives dress // JULIANNE MOORE wore Tom Ford and although a lot of people love this look I just feel like we've seen it a million times before. She's worn her hair like this before and has worn any number of dresses in a similar shape. For me it's a major fail // JENNIFER LOPEZ was definitely the worst offender of the night in this Zuhair Murad number. She's worn a version of this a million times and it's horrible.

Photos: Style.com

TOP ROW: SIENNA MILLER wore Erdem and a lot of people really disliked it. I think she could have looked a million times better but there's something about this that's growing on me. It missed the mark but wasn't an epic failure for me // KELLY OSBOURNE wore a great Zac Posen dress. I really love everything about the style but nothing on Kelly ever works for me because of the bazar purple hair. I also don't love the colour...too bad the shape is amazing // EMILY BLUNT wore Michael Kors and there's nothing horrible about it but it's not winning me over either... I'm not really sure what's missing but it doesn't have the 'it' factor.

BOTTOM ROW: AMANDA SEYFRIED wore a blush Givenchy gown with lace cut outs. It's an amazing dress but I feel like it's wearing her a little // RACHEL WEISZ wore a polka dot/sheer Louis Vuitton dress that I hated at first but is slowly growing on me. There's just something about the look overall that's not winning me over but I love that she took such a risk // ANNE HATHAWAY in Chanel Haute Couture. There's just something underwhelming about it. I really want to love it but can't.

Sienna Miller looked unbelievable in a pink Valentino tonight at the BAFTA's. This dress is spectacular! It's so pretty, feminine and unexpected. I love everything about it - the colour, the sleeves, the neckline, the shape - it's all amazing! I would wear this dress in a heartbeat! And I have serious hair envy right now. She looks so great!

A shot of the detailing on her dress.

TOP ROW - THE BEST: Marion Cotillard in an unbelievable Zuhair Murad (she was definitely the best dressed of the evening) // Amanda Seyfried looked great in a blue Marios Schwab dress // Naomi Watts looked fantastic again for the second night in a row in an Emilio Pucci gown // Emily Blunt looked so pretty in this Miu Miu number.

BOTTOM ROW - THE WORST: Emmy Rossum was boring in a Carolina Herrera number // Anne Hathaway wore a beaded Oscar de la Renta that was really unflattering // Jessica Chastain wore a red Prada dress that is NOT flattering at all. It actually looks like it could be a maternity dress (not good) // Nina Doborev is so beautiful but she really has a hard time on the red carpet. The sea foam green textured/cut out/keyhole dress she wore is the perfect example of what she shouldn't be wearing. It's Monique Lhuillier and unfortunately comes across looking very cheap.

What do you think? Have I missed anyone else? And are you as excited for the Golden Globes on Sunday night as I am?

Thursday, January 10, 2013

TOP ROW - THE BEST: Taylor Swift in Ralph Lauren - I think she was the BEST DRESSED of the evening (she definitely came out swinging after the breakup with Harry Styles) // Chloe Moretz looked great and perfectly age appropriate in this Simone Rocha dress // Lea Michelle in a fantastic pink Elie Saab. I'm not usually a big fan of Lea Michelle's but everything about this works. The dress is actually age appropriate and I love the way she's styled her hair // Naomi Watts looked amazing in this gold/black number

BOTTOM ROW - THE WORST: Heidi Klum in a weird dress that looks like it's from Marla's Dress Emporium // Jennifer Anniston in a leather dress that is super unflattering // Jennifer Lawrence channelling Liza Minnelli and Dynasty in a Valentino number // Julianne Hough in a Tony Ward Couture dress that looks like something from a Las Vegas show.

Aside from these ladies, I  also thought Sandra Bullock and Emma Watson looked good. What do you think, do you agree with my list?

I recently picked up Dior's Créme de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm and I have to say I'm obsessed! I included it in my lip balm roundup the other day but thought it deserved a post of it's own. It's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! It has a heavenly rose scent and feels amazing on. It's creamy and hydrating but not sticky. It also has SPF 10 and comes in a universally-flattering petal pink shade. At $29 it's definitely pricey, however this is the best lip balm I've come across in a long time and I think it's worth every penny.

This is a photo of my balm from Instagram. It does a good job of showing the consistency. Also, how fantastic is the packaging?!?! It's so pretty and has such an old-hollywood glamour feel. You can't help but feel chic pulling out this pretty package from your purse.

Since I posted on bronzers the other day, I've been thinking a lot about getting a few good highlighters. Maskcara had a great video about highlighting and contouring recently and I really want to try it out (her before and after photos are pretty amazing). Here's an overview of some of the most talked about highlighters on the market. I'd love to hear if you have any recommendations as well!
