Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday. I apologize for the unexpected hiatus. I was looking for things to post about but didn't find anything that really inspired me. I've decided that in honour of the new year, I want to look back on some of my favourite things in 2009 (and for all time). Some classics, some trends and some celebrity fashion have made the list. Let me know what you think and what makes your 'favourites' list.

Diane Kruger: Diane wins the award for my favourite celebrity style of 2009. She looked amazing on every red carpet she turned up for (I loved all of her looks for the Inglourious Basterds press tour) and always looks fashionable even when she's just out and about with her BF.

Chanel Classic Flap: The Chanel Classic Flap will forever be on my favourites list. It's perfect. I love all sizes/colours but tend to be drawn to the Large/Jumbo. After being on the wait-list forever, I got a red Jumbo Classic Flap this year and it's AMAZING. It's the perfect shade of RED and the Jumbo is the best size for everyday wear. It was a birthday present and pretty much made me happy all year!
This photo cracks me up!

Hermes Brazil Cashmere Shawl: After wanting this shawl for a really long time my DH bought this for me in the Summer (thanks hubby). I have it in red which is an unbelievable combination of strong colours that really pop. I still love the black though...

Emma Watson: 2009 was definitely the year Emma Watson stepped out as an emerging fashionista. She had the release of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, became the face of the iconic British brand Burberry, was front and center at all of the important fashion shows and started University in the US. It was a big year for Emma and she was one of my favourite stars to watch on the red carpet.

Nars Bronzer in Laguna: I usually go for super pink cheeks when I wear blush but since discovering Nars' Laguna bronzer I diversified my look with a 'golden' look. It's definitely the best bronzer I've ever used and although I haven't switched to bronzer 100% of the time it's great to add a bit of colour in the Summer or after I've been down South (esp since I don't ever tan).

YSL Lipsticks & Lipgloss: I've written about my obsession with all YSL lipsticks/glosses, etc quite a few times but it bears repeating. I'm a beauty junkie but YSL is my constant go-to lipstick/gloss when I'm on the go. The YSL Rouge Volupte and Rouge Pure Shine are my favourite lipsticks and the Golden Gloss is my favourite gloss.

Balenciaga Sunglasses: These Balenciaga sunglasses are a perfect mix of modern glamour and retro-chic. They're great to hide behind when you're out running errands and not looking your best. I bought mine at Ilori in the Spring and although they're on hiatus right now (I'm currently wearing the crap out of my Chloe's) I can't wait to pull them out for my vacation down South at the end of the month.

Louis Vuitton Leopard Sprouse Scarf: This scarf would be on my 2008 list as well but I still adore it. I wear it all the time and it brings anything you wear to life. It's definitely one of my favourite accessory purchases in recent years. The fabric is very fine though so I have a few runs in it from the clasp of my necklace - I figure it adds character ;-)

Diane Kruger's Chanel peep-toe booties: I don't own these but drooled over them for quite a while. They're definitely one of my favourite stand-out shoes from 2009. And of course Diane is one of my favourite fashionists!

Hermes Clic Clac Bracelet: This bracelet is on my classic list because it'll never go out of style but it was probably one of my most worn items in 2009. My mother-in-law bought this for me in cream/gold and it's one of my staples. I wear it with a gold Tiffany Elsa Peretti Pearls by the Yard bracelet and another thin gold bracelet that I've had forever. I love this bracelet! I have the yellow and black ones on my must-get list as well.

Burberry Snood: The snood was my favourite new accessory this year. Since buying it I've discovered it has a few drawbacks - it messes up your hair and sometimes makes your eyebrows look a little crazy but the warmth and unique style of this cozy cashmere scarf makes up for the messiness. Plus it looks great!

Miu Miu Shoes: Miu Miu made some seriously amazing shoes this year. I wanted just about everything but these gorgeous flats were my favourite. I bought them in Black/Antique Gray when I was in NYC with Jordana and I adore them.

J Crew Forever Cardigan: I bought this cardigan in a few different colours but the black and silver striped version was my favourite. It's the perfect length and looks great with jeans.

The Rachel Zoe Project: I have fallen in love with Rachel and her wacky team after watching 2 seasons of the RZP. The power that she yields among top designers is mind blowing and I love her love of fashion. Check it out on Bravo's site.

The September Issue: This was one of the most memorable movies of 2009. Everything about this movie was fascinating. Andre's 'famine of beauty' line was probably the most memorable and his tennis scene had me in tears every time I thought about it but the behind the scenes look at how they put this amazing magazine together was definitely the best part of this amazing movie. And to see the love-hate relationship between Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington was fascinating. If you haven't seen it you NEED to check it out. Here's the official trailer:

And here's Andre's amazing tennis scene - AMAZING!

That's my recap of 2009 favourites. What about you? What was on your favourite list for 2009?

UPDATE: I forgot two things on my list - the Paige Jimmy Jimmy Boyfriend Jeans (thanks Samantha) and David's tea.

  1. This is an amazing list. Thanks, especially, for including the Andre Leon Talley clip. Incredible.
