WTF

Lindsay Lohan has been named 'Artistic Advisor' for the House of Emanuel Ungaro. I'm sorry, give me a minute - I think I just vomited a little in my mouth.

WTF are they thinking?!?! Ungaro is pairing Lindsay with a new designer - Estrella Archs, formerly of Prada, Emilio Pucci and Nina Ricci - for what it calls a new consumer-led business model. The first joint Lohan-Archs collection will debut during Paris Fashion Week on October 4th. They are associating themselves with Lindsay's budget line of leggings, her orange self-tanner and her crack pot brand of craziness that has resulted in making her unhirable in Hollywood. I have to say that I completely agree with Lainey when she described this move as the ultimate brand shame. It's a huge PR stunt but one that will likely do a lot of harm to the brand. Despite the saying that all publicity is good publicity - I don't see how anyone who would spend money on clothing as expensive as Ungaro would want to associated themselves with Lindsay Lohan. But then again there are people out there who want to smell like Paris Hilton or Britney Spears so who knows...

Sorry for the negative tone of this post but when there are so many talented, stylish, intelligent ladies who should be revered for their unique sense of style and je ne sais quoi (i.e. Diane Kruger, Marion Cotillard, Miroslava Duma, Natalie Portman, Kirsten Dunst, Julie Restoin-Roitfeld, the list goes on and on...), I can't believe Ungaro would chose someone who is such an obvious (and poor) follower of trends as opposed to a trend setter. Anyways, that's just my two cents. What do you think? Am I being too harsh?

  1. Huge brand misstep, but unfortunately you've got a point about the Britney/Paris perfumes. Famous does not equal taste or style. Why don't people realize this?

  2. I agree with you 100%. Have you seen the travesty that was Lohan's Fornarina ad? It was barf-o-rific and she was supposedly doing what she knows best-acting. Lord help the house of Ungaro when Lindsay Lohan opens her mouth to share her artistic advice.

I assume she will have zero real input into the collections, but from a perception/publicity stand point I cannot see anything good coming out of this for Ungaro.

I think this is a miss-step on their part.

  3. As much as I hate her, it's a way better choice than the Trollsen twins. Ugly fur hags.

  4. Really? I would choose MK & Ashley over Lohan any day! They're eccentric but I actually think they're really talented and I like that they take risks. I also think their clothing lines are very well done - expensive but great tailoring and good quality.
