BELLE SPOTLIGHT

I'm obsessed with Nicole Richie's ability to create the perfect cat-eye eyeliner every time she goes out. WhoWhatWear recently had a feature on celebrity beauty tips and featured Nicole's step-by-step instructions to get her 'artfully executed' eyeliner. Here's the detailed breakdown for Richie's perfect cat-eyes:

"She starts by applying MAC Liquid Eye Liner in Boot Black along her lash line. Then, after the liner dries, she then emphasizes her handiwork, using a small slanted brush and black eye shadow, specifically MAC's 266 Small Angle Brush and Eye Shadow in Carbon. Next, Richie curls her lashes with shu uemura's Mini Eyelash Curler. She recommends heating the tool with a quick shot of hot air from a hair dryer first, as this will ensure your lashes stay curled. The final touch is a few coats of Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Very Black and voila! Perfection, the Richie way."

Personally I'm partial to Bobbi Brown's Long Wear Gel Eyeliner. I use it in Black Ink to create dramatic cat-eye liner but have it in a few other fun colours as well (the mauve and turquoise are fantastic). I put it on with MAC's 210 Precise Eye Liner Brush - it's thin and really easy to control which I find easier to use than liquid liner with a built-in brush. I finish by using Chanel's Le Crayon Khol Intense Eye Pencil in Noir to line the inner lower lid when I'm creating the cat-eye look.

  2. I'm partial to Bobbi's gel liners too but the MAC fluidlines are pretty good too.

  3. I use Stila's Purrfect eyes - it has everything to make the perfect eye. Love it! It's good for everyday wear, but also has liquid liner and black liner shadow/slanted brush to make it more dramatic.
