" I buy my shoes a size too small. I like the way it feels."

Whitney Port attended a Members Only Trunk Show and Private Shopping Party at Owl's Lab yesterday. I think Whitney is great - she's got a quirky style and isn't afraid to take risks. Although I tend to prefer Olivia's style in general, Whitney is definitely an original. In terms of this look - I love her outfit from the waist down...the boyfriend jeans look great and her heels are fantastic! The strange hair band and t-shirt don't do it for me though. What do you think? Do you love it or hate it?

These pictures were taken of Nicole Richie and her daughter Harlow going into CNN earlier this week. I absolutely love her Brigitte Bardot-inspired pony tail and her House of Harlow jewellery looks fantastic!

Nicole twittered today about her love for Brazilian Blowdrys - claiming they make her normally curly hair smooth and straight. Check out her website for more info on her Brazilian Blowdry experience.

Kristin Cavallari was out and about in West Hollywood on Wednesday filming scenes for The Hills at Pinches Taco. Brody, Jayde and Lo were filming with Kristin. I was on Team Lauren when I watched Laguna so I'm not really sure how I feel about Kristin being inserted into The Hills. She'll definitely create drama but I have a feeling it'll come across as being contrived (or at least more contrived than the show already is). I guess I'll need to tune in before I make a final decision either way. What are your thoughts on Kristin joining The Hills

BTW - I love Kristin's wedge sandals!

These pictures of Miroslava Duma were taken recently in Cannes. She's wearing Louis Vuitton's Spicy Sandals and they look AMAZING! I love her simple black dress and gold clutch but this look is all about the shoes!

This post brings together two of my favorite things - Karl Lagerfeld and Harry Potter! Well, not Harry Potter exactly but Hermione. Karl photographed Emma Watson for the new issue of French magazine Crash. The photos are stunning - very artistic (at times odd) but stunning. I love that Emma hasn't crashed and burned like the majority of child stars and she's turned into a full fledged fashion muse.  I have a feeling we'll see her wearing a lot of Chanel when she walks the red carpet for the next Harry Potter movie this summer.

I'm always searching for the perfect polish and my absolute favorite color is Lippmann's The Lady Is A Tramp. It's the perfect dark sanguine red. Lippmann's line of polishes is one of my favorites - not only is it DBP, formaldehyde and toluene free but it also contains green tea and biotin (protein) to help your nails grow stronger. The formula dries quickly and has a great shine. Go to Lippmann to see The Lady Is A Tramp and to check out more colors in the line. And if you're looking for the perfect berry/brown try Lippmann's Just Walk Away Renee.

The 2009 CW Upfronts were held last week in NYC and the ladies from Gossip Girl were out in full force. I've included my thoughts below but let me know what you think about their looks.

Jessica Szohr looks super tanned in this blue off-the-shoulder number. The color looks great on her and the dress is super fun. As an aside, I think Jessica should lay off the tanning...
Wow - Blake was having a 'Serena' moment at the up-fronts. She definitely has the body for this blue ADAM jumper. It's a racy look but combined with her killer Louboutins, I think she pulls it off.

Leighton Meester wore a Jil Sander jacket and shorts with Brian Atwood shoes. The oversized blazer and shorts don't work for me. I think she needed to bring a little more Blair Waldorf to the event...

Today's style spotlight is on Kate Waterhouse. She attended the Kia Soul Live Concert in Sydney Australia over the weekend. I don't know how or why she's famous but I love her yellow clutch, peep-toe booties and leather mini. And her jacket is BANANAS! Love, love, love !

There were a lot of great fashion moments in Cannes this year but there equally a number of 'what were they thinking' moments. Here's an overview of the worst dressed:

Paris Hilton and Doug Reinhardt win the 'worst couple' award for Cannes this year. I don't know how they managed to get onto the red carpet for Inglourious Basterds or the AMFAR Gala but they brought their hideous style and inappropriate PDA out in full force.

Emile Hirsh and his girlfriend (I think it's Britany-something) looking swarmy on the red carpet of Inglourious Basterds. I love Emile - he was Amazing in Into The Wild and Milk but he looked creepy on the red carpet. As for her dress...hideous! I don't think I need to say more.

Sharon Stone looked amazing on the red carpet for the AMFAR Gala but earlier in the week she wore a trashy looking Balmain gown for the Inglourious Basterds premiere. Sharon has an amazing body but this dress wouldn't look good on anyone. It's a sad day when a Balmain dress looks like it's from Marla's Dress Emporium!

Hayden Panettiere wore a blush silk chiffon Marchesa dress to the AMFAR Gala. Hayden is a beautiful girl but this looks like a bad prom dress.

Eva Herzigova in a red Dolce & Gabanna dress at the AMFAR Gala. This looks like it's a costume from Moulin Rouge. TACKY!

Eva in another bad choice at the Chopard event earlier in the week. She's wearing Roberto Cavalli with Guiseppe Zanotti shoes. Everything about this look screams Euro-trash.

After looking amazing in white earlier in the week, Penelope Cruz wore an ill-fitting purple Marchesa gown to the Broken Embraces premiere. The color is beautiful but the fit is off. I don't know how Marchesa created the amazing white/silver dress that Diane Kruger wore earlier in the week and then sent Penelope and Hayden out in such horrible dresses.
Hillary Swank on the red carpet in a bizarre short/long dress. I don't care enough to find out what designer made the dress but it's definitely bad.

Eva Green wore pink to the AMFAR Gala. The dress isn't that bad but her hair is horrific! Seriously, I know Eva is out-there but nobody could really think this hair/makeup combination looked good. Right?!?!

There were a lot of great couples on the red carpet at Cannes but Diane/Joshua and Marion/Guillaume were my two favorites by far. They were in usual 'stylish' form on the red carpet at the AMFAR Gala.

Diane and Joshua look fantastic on the red carpet together. They are by far my favorite choice for most stylish couple!

I identified Diane Kruger as the best dressed at Cannes earlier in the week and she continued her rein as best dressed by wearing an amazing white/black Chanel dress to the AMFAR Gala. I love everything about this look! It's definitely my favorite dress of the festival.

Marion and Guillaume looked fantastic on the AMFAR red carpet. Seriously, is there a cuter couple?

This dress is stunning on Marion - the color, the details, the draping - it's fantastic!

Diane and Joshua participated in the evening by helping to auction off a Chanel Personal Transporter. Diane tried out the electric big wheeler and looked like she had fun.

Nothing beats the red carpet in Cannes. And the premiere of Inglourious Basterds brought out the best fashion looks of the festival! I've included a few more stand out looks from the premiere below, as well as some of the best dressed from AMFAR's Cinema Against AIDS gala.

Natasha Poly in a Roberto Cavalli dress on the red carpet for the Inglourious Basterds premiere. I don't know much about her (I think she's a model) but her red carpet look is divine!

Zhang Ziyi looked amazing at the premiere of Inglourious Basterds.

Claudia Schiffer wearing a black Dolce & Gabanna dress to the AMFAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala event.

Earlier in the festival Sharon Stone looked like a train wreck but she pulled out all the stops for her AMFAR Gala. The event host, Sharon wore an asymmetrical silk georgette gown and shoes from Dior.

Dita Von Teese at the AMFAR Gala in a dress from the calligraphy collection of Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture and Christian Louboutin heels.  All round Dita was one of the best dressed at the festival this year. Her mix of sexy/retro-glam was perfect for Cannes.

"I don't need meetings. I'm only interested in my own opinion anyway." - Karl Lagerfeld

Marc Jacobs newest collection of bags features safety pin detailing. I love the chic combination of blue and black on this clutch. The material is faux-wrapped and then safety pinned in place in the center of the clutch. The safety pin is oversized so everyone will notice the tongue-in-cheek detailing. The clutch has a distinctive 80's feel to it and will probably be quite controversial in fashion circles. I'm sure it will be the bag of the Season but it will also be dated pretty quickly. What are your thoughts - do you love it or do you hate it?

Ginnifer Goodwin showed off a shorter hairstyle in Rome for a Bvlgari party. She's wearing an Azzaro dress from the F/W 09 collection with Brian Atwood's "Bevi" slingbacks. I love that Ginnifer has such a young, flirty style. This dress looks fantastic on her.

My friend Jordana has a unique and indvidual sense of style. She's not afraid to take risks and is one of the most stylish people I know. With summer coming quickly, I asked Jordana to pull together her top five picks for Summer.

BTW - Jordana also has a great food blog. Check it out for some easy summer recipes

While the La Dauphine blog brings us the best of high fashion and celebrity-style, many of us are scouring the stores to find fashion items that are recession-proof (or at least less expensive than a Birkin) to spruce up our summer wardrobes.

Here are my top five picks of the season:

A quintessential sundress
Hot, humid summers warrant light, airy dresses that can beat the heat but keep us looking hot. You’ll find me at backyard barbecues or hitting the beach in this tri-colour
See by Chloe number.

Bold bags
Lose your black bag this summer and pick up something that will add a splash of colour. In late August, you can go back to your basics…if you really want to.
Balenciaga Cannage Area First in blue green – I know there are some haters out there but I love this bag with jeans and t-shirt.

Gucci New Jackie Shoulder Bag in coral (this photo doesn’t do it justice, this is a sexy bag…trust me!)

Carlos Falchi Iridescent Python Clutch – I grew up with a Carlos Falchi-loving mom so I had to include this in my summer picks. Honestly, it makes a statement and you will be the only girl at the party or on the patio with this clutch.

Quirky sandals

I get it; everyone loves gladiators. But frankly, everyone is wearing them and they’re not practical for me. I don’t know about you but my ankles swell in the heat! For casual daytime dressing try something metallic, flat and strappy. Right now on, there is a tremendous sandal sale. I like the Crackled Peep Toes by Lucky Penny.

Shimmer eyes
Check out Stila’s limited edition
Precious Pearl Palette. The shades are modern, subtle and perfect for the season plus you can mix & match the colours.

Get wet
Finding the right swimsuit is a challenge. My goal is to find something that captures my daytime style without being overt. Rosa Cha Bergamot One-Piece – check out the sexy back

Let me know what you think about my summer picks. And, check out my food blog at You’ll find recipes and menu ideas that are simple and yummy.

Hmm…simple and yummy…I think that’s my personal fashion motto too!
